Freestanding Fossil Ammonite Orthoceras statute.
Orthoceras fossils are an of extinct genus of nautiloid cephalopod. Orthoceras animals comprised of a solid shell, in which the soft body of the animal inhabited. These fossils are over 380 million years old and have been found in the Tindouf Basin in Morrocco.
This is a genuine Orthoceras fossil. The Orthoceras has been polished to reveal its natural occurring beauty and it sits on top of a natural stone (as found). In some cases minor repairs have been undertaken on these fossils, where this has occurred, the minor infections are shown in the photographs.
The piece is approximately 11m high, by 8cm by 3cm. It weighs approximately 500g. This piece has a flat bottom so it will sit nicely on a table or desk. We have different options available, please select which piece you would like to receive.
